| Brief IntroductionKTH7812 is a high-precision absolute-angle Hall sensor IC featuring up to 16-bit resolution absolute angle output, enabling non-contact magnetic angle measurement for both on-axis and off-axis configurations. It delivers fast and accurate angle information across a rotational speed range of 0–120,000 rpm, suited for a wide variety of applications requiring precise angle measurement and speed control. The KTH7812 supports multiple flexible angle output modes to meet diverse application requirements. It provides programmable ABZ quadrature pulse output up to 4096 counts per revolution for high-resolution, accurate position feedback. Programmable UVW incremental output for 1–8 pole pairs accommodates various motor applications. Additionally, four-wire SPI output is available for angle data transmission to facilitate communication and data exchange with external devices. To adapt to practical working conditions, the KTH7812 integrates magnetic field strength detection. Users can programmatically set upper and lower magnetic field thresholds to monitor magnetic flux density in real time and trigger corresponding processing, simplifying magnet selection and air-gap layout design. Moreover, the IC embeds MTP (Multiple-Time Programmable) memory to store critical configuration parameters, including reference zero angle position, ABZ encoder settings and magnetic detection thresholds. Overall System Architecture:
The KTH7812 is a Hall angle encoder integrating Hall elements, analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and various functional modules to precisely measure angles and output corresponding digital signals. Voltage signals generated by the Hall elements are converted into two channels of quadrature digital signals via the ADC. These signals are then calculated by the ATAN module to generate a 16-bit digital angle value. The digital angle undergoes zero-point configuration, rotation direction setting and filtering processing. Through SPI communication, the encoder output interface can directly output filtered angle values, which can be read directly by an MCU or other circuits. To boost the refresh rate, the filtered angle can be processed by an interpolator and sent to the ABZ and UVW angle encoding modules, which convert the angle into the required encoded signals. In addition, all system operating parameters are stored in programmable multiple-time programmable (MTP) memory.
