ACM6262-Q1 Overview:
The ACM6262-Q1 is an automotive-grade single-phase AC/DC brushless motor driver IC built on an H-bridge power MOS architecture. It supports a wide input voltage range from 3V to 36V and delivers a continuous motor phase current of 2.5A. It is perfectly suited for variable-speed drive requirements of automotive equipment such as cooling fans and water pumps. Featuring low EMI, high protection performance and strong programmability, it serves as an ideal solution for automotive silent drive applications.
The ACM6262-Q1 adopts a TSSOP16 package with a compact body size of only 6.4mm×5mm. Its miniature package greatly saves PCB layout space and meets the miniaturization design requirements of automotive electronics. The product complies with RoHS environmental standards and lead-free processes, with an MSL3 moisture sensitivity level, supporting large-scale industrial mass production. In terms of motor drive performance, the ACM6262-Q1 integrates multiple drive modes and precise speed regulation control. It supports square-wave, quasi-sine-wave and sine-wave driving modes, combined with adjustable PWM soft-switching technology. The rising and falling edges can be independently adjusted with 8 configurable levels from 5.6° to 45°, effectively reducing vibration and noise during the operation of fans and water pumps to achieve silent driving. Built-in soft-start and soft-stop functions are provided; the startup duty cycle (8 levels from 3.125% to 100%), acceleration slope and deceleration slope (4 levels from 0.125VCC/s to 1VCC/s for both) are fully programmable. This avoids peak inrush current during power-on and locked-rotor restart, protecting both the motor and the driver IC.
To achieve precise current management, the ACM6262-Q1 integrates a cycle-by-cycle current limiting function. The current threshold is programmable in 16 levels within the range of 0.078A to 2.5A with adjustable step sizes, which effectively limits the motor phase current and prevents damage caused by overcurrent. Integrated current detection and power MOSFETs are embedded inside the chip; the typical on-resistance of high-side and low-side channels in series is only 330 mΩ at 25°C, delivering low conduction loss and improving the energy conversion efficiency of the chip.
In terms of electromagnetic interference optimization, the chip is equipped with ultra-low-frequency EMI optimization options. It adopts multiple EMI suppression methods including PWM edge rate control, spread spectrum technology, and soft switching, which greatly reduce electromagnetic radiation. It meets the EMC certification requirements for automotive electronic equipment and minimizes interference with peripheral automotive electrical components.
The chip features a comprehensive protection system with full-range built-in protection functions, including:
Overcurrent protection (threshold at approximately 3.125 A for inter-phase short-circuit scenarios);
Locked-rotor detection (entry time selectable as 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 s, release time programmable from 0.2 s to 20.8 s with automatic restart after locked-rotor protection);
Undervoltage / Overvoltage lockout protection (UVLO / OVLO with multiple programmable thresholds and hysteresis of 0.2 V and 1 V respectively);
Thermal shutdown protection (four adjustable shutdown temperature levels: 110°C / 124°C / 140°C / 157°C with 20°C hysteresis).
When any protection mechanism is triggered, the chip enters protection mode promptly and recovers automatically after the fault is cleared, ensuring the safe and stable operation of both the chip and the motor under complex working conditions.
In addition, the ACM6262-Q1 integrates a 5 V LDO regulator with an output voltage accuracy of 4.8 V ~ 5.2 V and an output current capability up to 25 mA. It not only supplies power to the internal circuitry of the chip, but also provides power for the voltage divider circuits of external interfaces such as SPEED and HALL_IN, reducing the use of external power components and simplifying peripheral circuit design. It provides open-drain FG/RD output pins for real-time motor speed feedback to support speed monitoring. Meanwhile, direct pin control is available for motor forward/reverse rotation via the DIR pin and braking via the BRAKE pin, featuring simple control logic for convenient operation of automotive devices.
The peripheral application circuit of the chip is concise, requiring only a small number of passive components such as capacitors and resistors to implement full functions. Pre-programming is supported; if parameters are programmed before factory delivery, resistors for on-board programming can be eliminated to further simplify PCB design. The parameters support more than 500 programming cycles, enabling flexible configuration for different application scenarios to meet customized driving requirements of various automotive single-phase AC/DC brushless motors such as automotive fans and water pumps.
